Best of Netflix Streaming: Twin Peaks

It's still hard to believe something this odd and unsettling made it onto network teevee, let alone became a cause celebre and ratings success.
Today it'd be an HBO miniseries, and probably suffer for it.
It works by grounding the strangeness in identifiable genre conventions like Lynch's other big cultural touchstone, Blue Velvet. I enjoy his weirder stuff on its own merits, but I like him best with his creativity contained . The first season is sustained brilliance, the second season is unwatchable.

For years there was some rights hangup about bundling the pilot episode in with the rest of the series- glad they got it sorted.
