Excavated another box of CDs from the garage and brought a stack to work with me, intent on assimilating it into the iBorg. Today's winners are:
Fire in my Bones: Raw + Rare + Otherworldly African-American Gospel [1944-2007]
One of the most amazing, rip-roaring compilations ever. Not usually my scene as the genre tends strongly toward slick, overproduced, sanctimonious horseisht, but nearly every track on this 3 disc monster drinks gasoline and breathes fire. 'Raw and Otherworldly' is right.
Steely Dan Gold
Even though I owned their whole catalog I bought the vinyl back in the day because it included FM. The CD promises "4 additional recordings Over 60 minutes Worth of Music", I think I got hooked by the promise of Bodhisattva live.
Ultra Vivid Scene, Joy 1967-1990
One of those discs that's survived every purge thanks to one absolutely killer track- Guilty Pleasure.
Verve A Storm in Heaven
One of my formative shoegaze classics, pulled from the used bins at Boo Boos. It seemed unfair to me that they became famous for a Stones sample after they'd already put out this fantastic disc. Oh pop culture, you tasteless monstrosity.
Sister of Mercy - Some Girls Wander By Mistake
Music to polish your black leather trenchcoat by.
Siouxsie & the Banshees: Twice Upon A Time - The Singles
Quality greatest hits comp. I picked it up to get Dazzle on CD.
