I buy books to sell but every once in a while I'm inspired by an alternative motive.
Like with this one:
A cover so misguided and offputting I HAD to buy it to show my co-workers.
Once you get past that awful cover it's an okay book on building floaty things for kids out of stuff you have lying around the house. And conceptually there's nothing wrong with the idea of the cover- I'm sure kids made it and had a blast, and you could make a perfectly okay cover from 'kid art'.
Just not this one, which looks like someone grabbed an armload of used plates from the trash and dumped them in the lake, where the miasma of dead leaves & algae framing the shot doesn't exactly shout BUY ME.
