Guy comes in with son to sell some books.
I sort through them and we have this exchange.
me: So these are the winners, that will be three dollars in cash or eight dollars in trade.
guy: What?
me: Three in cash, eight in trade.
guy: What about these? (gesturing at all the stuff I didn't take)
me: those are yours. These are the ones we want- three in cash, eight in trade.
guy: So, it's eight books in trade?
me: No, we don't trade book for book. It's eight dollars in trade which applies to books.
guy: Oh. So, eight dollars in cash or eight in trade?
me: No. Three dollars in cash. Eight in trade.
guy: What?
Sigh.
