Note Bay Area readers, I added Kim's food blog to the roll.
Also switched the archiving from 'monthly' to 'weekly', mostly because I got tired of scrolling past the updates to find my links. And made a little list of tags, mostly for the Netflix people.
Netflix continues to drive traffic, with Google searches eclipsing Facebook for the first time and by a wide margin. This week's big winner was Film Noir pt 1, which inspires me to get cracking on Part 2...except I need to finish up the Silent Film post first (free preview- check out Steamboat Bill, Jr.- it's fantastic!)
Totally unrelated but added in the spirit of providing something to chew on for people who don't care about behind-the-curtain blog stuff- we cruised by the local Borders the other day and MAN is it looking dilapidated.
They had a sad little placard by the door advertising their too-little-too-late ereader, the 'Kobo', which sounds like the bastard offspring of regrettable night of drunken passion between 'Kindle' and 'Nook'. They had a bunch of folding tables pushed together over by their wrapping paper/gift cards/tchocke corner stacked with cardboard boxes full of remainders they were selling at 1/2 the sale price, a bay of CDs they were selling at 40% off, and there wasn't a single book to be seen in the overstock shelves lining the walls of the store.
Our local store may not have showed up on the list of closures, but they're certainly acting like they don't expect to be around much longer. Burn those gift cards people, it's looking like the whole show's going to close up sooner rather than later.
