Roku Nation

This article is an accompaniment to the drum I've been banging on for a year or so, that Roku > Cable.

It was a cinch to set up: this wire goes here, this one there, and boom: movies, television, music, all without the cable bill. Netflix and Hulu will run you $7.99 a month each, and most Amazon features are pay-as-you-go or $79 a year for a Prime membership. Let's total all three at $21 a month. Much better than cable!

But combined with this tidbit from yesterday, I forsee the end of the streaming Golden Age.

Better + Cheaper + Increasingly Mainstream = Angry Cable Companies, and they're right up with bankers & oil companies in political clout and hatred of competition.

Ah well, it's been a good run! I just hope they don't screw things up too badly for us cable exiles.
