Slashdot asks its users what's up. Lots of pretty informative comments.
We've been Roku only for over a year and now I get genuinely irritated if I have to watch something on broadcast teevee. It's like going from a well secured internet browser armed to the teeth with adblocking countermeasures to the terminal at the local library...the amount of extraneous garbage introduced to the system makes it not worth using.
Pandora for tunes, Netflix streaming for most watching, and Roku has a TON of good channels that I'd love to watch more often but I haven't got the time. They have an Anime channel, for pete's sake!
The one negative in the comments that I must unfortunately agree with is that this free ride can't last forever. Like the heyday of Napster, it's too obviously good a thing to survive the inevitable land rush of humanity. Streaming is still new-ish and kinda weird enough to have a stigma in the minds of Joe and Jane Sixpack, but eventually 8 bucks a month for Netflix vs 100+ for cable is going to sink in.
