Arcade Fail

Pitchfork tells me there's a "deluxe" edition of The Suburbs coming out, with bonus tracks and a movie n' documentary and stuff.

This is the kind of nonsense DVDs used to pull all the time (and may still, I guess- I haven't bought one for myself in years), double-dipping on passionate fans by selling them the 'regular' edition the moment it came out then putting the touch on for the 'deluxe' edition a bit later, after the new car smell had worn off.

Years back the Wife bought me a copy of LotR when it came out and I returned it, knowing the super-duper deluxe edition was on the way.

I guess this kind of stuff doesn't bug most people as much as it bugs me...or if it does, they grumble but still pay.

I'm happy with my vinyl copy and the digital age I can get ahold of the deluxe extras without much trouble, but I don't appreciate the bait-n-switch.
