More Nukes

Nice!

Gee, I wonder who's going to pick up that tab, the company responsible or the Japanese taxpayers.

(that's a trick question.)

Here's the problem with nukes- maybe in a perfect world where corporations aren't willing to cut any corner and take any risk in pursuit of another tiny sliver of profit, and where all nuclear plants are perfectly planned and executed, and where regulators aren't in the pockets of the industries they're allegedly policing, and where crazy random shit nobody could ever predict doesn't happen every single day they'd be fine.

But we don't live in Utopia and we never will. In this world, the down sides vastly outweigh the up sides, and if we had a sane society we'd have already started a concerted global push to expand renewable energy resources that don't have the potential to render large areas uninhabitable.

But hey, who knows, maybe this is the last time something like this will ever happen, right? PG&E should send out rabbit's feet to all their customers so we can do our part...

Agreed. But our world doesn't seem able enough to analyze and evaluate your logic, let alone put it into action.
