True Fuss Tales: Boonsong

The other night Uncle Timmy came over for a screening of the long awaited Thai Palme d'Or winner Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives.

By any measure a leisurely, enigmatic film, inviting contemplation. We loved it, and the opening ten minutes had an especial impact.

As much as I liked it isn't the kind of fare I'd expect Fuss to embrace. And yet the next morning Fuss was asking me about Boonsong, a red eyed ghost. And this morning he made me play the first ten minutes for him while we sat together on the couch cuddled up under Orange Buenee.

"Dada....Boonsong follows the cow?" he asked.

If you've got Netflix streaming you can check out the intro for yourself (that's Boonsong on the box art) and consider the makeup of the toddler who becomes obsessed with it.
