True Customer Tales: I Know They're Worth Hundreds of Dollars

As if on cue!

A gal calls about selling some 'old books'. The conversation develops.

gal: They're in Norwegian? And they're super old- one of them is almost 150 years old!

me: Foreign language books aren't that great for us. If they have nice bindings, we might be able to do something with them.

gal: I got them at a sale, and I know I could ebay them for a few hundred dollars, but I don't really like to do that.

me: Mmmm. Internet prices don't necessarily have anything to do with what we could sell them for.

gal: Oh, I know you wouldn't pay that much for them, but...they're selling for hundreds of dollars.

me: people ask for all kinds of crazy prices online. We'll take a look at them, but it sounds like we're not going to be able to meet your expectations.

She says she'll bring them in- I'm sort of curious to see what kind of 150 year old Norwegian tome is worth hundreds of dollars on Ebay.
