File under "no duh!".
A while back I ran across an interview with the CEO of Netflix where he was soft shoeing the 'competition' aspect and trying to present his company as a cable supplement, making a big deal out of being in the 'rerun' business.
But the thing is, with enough high quality reruns on tap continuing to pay for the 'current season' makes less and less sense. The exception being live stuff like sports, where waiting can spoil the result.
I see cable eventually going the way of the wristwatch- a onetime necessity turned anachronism, worn more from habit or as a sign of status than from any practical necessity.

We cut the cable quite a while back. Do not miss it. Access PBS News Hour and breaking news online and do Netflix. Occasionally order a movie from Amazon. Network and cable television no longer make the grade. I can't believe some still watch commercials. Come to think of it, the peeps I know who do cable also do whatever it's called that allows them to playback and so skip ads.
Not watching TV has it's implications. I keep thinking I'm reading/hearing about Star Trek - Cardassians?
