true customer tales

co-ed to her friend, considering the copy of Wilkie Collins' The Moonstone she just purchased.

Ohmygod, this is so long! I can't believe this, am I supposed to read this whole thing? Look at all these pages! I have to read sixty pages tonight! This is so much reading!

concerned friend:
Wow, your teacher is brutal.

We should repackage novels as text messages JAPAN STYLE and assign them that way.

I had a comment and then I got lost in the fuss slide show . . . .
something about teaching and brutal and books and pages.
He is so cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Someday, everyday, some teacher will be brutal to him. Parents, too, man. How can anyone learn the hard stuff, the best stuff, unless someone at some point frickin' does brutal?
Then there's the other side. How can we make students want to learn? Does it go in/get in when they stuff 60 pages/last minute stuffing? How can we seduce them into learning? so they, you know, like, learn?
and you know what, I DON'T KNOW but I appreciate the opportunity to go off on your blog.
